Year 5+6 Rounders V Alpha
The Year 5 and 6 children had a wonderful final fixture of the Year with Alpha last Thursday. The matches really epitomised the fantastic team spirit and unity shared by this cohort of children that have made Thursday afternoons such joyful occasions this year, and the Year 6 children will be much missed!
The first team to take to the field were strongly captained by Shivani who communicated both advice and encouragement like a true leader. The whole team batted well to record an impressive nine rounders, to record a super victory. Particular congratulations go to Simran for showing good awareness and decision making when batting and fielding. Shay was nominated as the player of the match as he bowled confidently, and we are still looking for one of the balls that he struck when batting as it went so far into the distance!
The second team to play were raring to go having seen the success of their friends. Anaiya and Sophie bowled really well to anchor the team and Sheoli and Anika were very consistent with catching and stumping their bases to prevent their opponents from scoring. The whole team did really well to add five more rounders to their total. A special mention goes to Medhavi for excellent batting and fielding, and she was just pipped to the post for the player of the match award by Sophie’s athletic catches and coordination with her teammates.
