Wreath laying in the Peace Garden

Posted: 15th October 2024

The weather held off for the wreath laying in the Peace Garden at Pinner Memorial Park.  It was wonderful to be able to give more children the opportunity to represent Reddiford School at such an important event.

The Mayor laid the wreath and the Deputy-Lieutenant for Harrow spoke – both to introduce the event for the children and give context, and also the formal words that accompany the wreath laying. The trumpeter played the Last Post and a minute’s silence was observed to remember the fallen.

There was then an opportunity for the Mayor, the Deputy-Lieutenant and representatives from the Royal British Legion and the Royal Air Force to talk with the children, who shared their knowledge of the First World War and asked their own interesting questions.

It felt like an important event to be part of – further strengthening our ties to our local community and broadening our pupil’s experiences.
