Quainton Hall Swimming Gala- Friday 20th May 2022

Posted: 20th May 2022

After a rigorous selection process, eight intrepid swimmers from Reddiford set off for the inaugural Quainton Hall Swimming Gala. A boy and a girl from each year group took part in several races against teams from Quainton Hall and Alpha, including Front Crawl, Back Crawl and Breaststroke.

The Year Three children were very brave in starting the proceedings in their first ever school gala.  Aaryan came first and second in his Front Crawl and Back Crawl races and Evie came second in her Back Crawl race. They also contributed to the overall team performance by cheering on the older swimmers and picking up some tips for the future.

The Year Four children were very busy in what was also their first school gala, as they were allowed to take part in three individual races. Sophie and Eashar also put in some strong performances, with Eashar coming first in all of his races and Sophie coming first in her preferred stroke of Back Crawl.

The Year Five children were perhaps the most excited about the gala, as they knew of older children who had enjoyed taking part in the past, took part in some very close races with their peers, with Shay and Serena both recording finishes in the top three.

The Year Six children took care of the younger team mates, and really led by example with their performances and commitment. Both Omar and Annika recorded first place finishes and Omar had children and adults alike exclaiming over his extraordinary technical starts.

The highlight of the event was the Squadron Relay, in which the children not only brilliantly worked out their own rotation to enable them to swim two lengths each, but also went on to win by over a length!

It was fantastic to see how all of the children had progressed since we last saw them swim and we hope to return next year with even more swimmers.
